The New Jersey Department of Education has designated the Atlantic County ETTC to serve as the Best Practices Academy for schools in South and Central New Jersey. This October, the Academy will conduct 30-hour hands-on sessions for teachers and school administrators from the 46 Best Practice schools on the creation of multimedia websites for their innovative ideas.

The New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Innovative Programs and Practices selected the 46 Best Practice Schools from a statewide competition of more than 800 applicants. Each Best Practice will nominate one individual to attend the Best Practices Academy.

Participants will learn how to plan and build effective and attractive websites. Websites will feature video clips, animation, artwork, photographs, sound and other multimedia pieces.

Upon completion, these 46 web projects will be showcased via the web, custom CD-ROM’s and distance learning technology. A dedicated web server will feature the completed Best Practices websites early next year, and will allow visitors to search for Best Practices by the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards addressed.

The Academy advances a major goal of the Best Practices / Star Schools program: the dissemination, replication and expansion of exemplary practices throughout the state to promote student achievement as well as school improvement.

The Atlantic County ETTC is located at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, with the Atlantic County Vocational Technical School as its managing school district. For more information, please call Anu Vedantham at (609) 652-4931 or visit www.acettc.stockton.edu.
