Technology in the Classroom 2004 Contest - Collaborative Projects

Online Collaborative Projects

Have you ever wanted to develop an Online Collaborative Project? Online Collaborative Projects are learning activities structured around goals and objectives that require participants to use the Internet. Projects are usually specific in nature and last for a given period of time. They are announced over the Internet, in newsletters, or in other professional publications. Multiple classes are involved, many times from around the world. Students collaborate on accomplishing the goals and objectives of the project through the Internet as well as through classroom activities.

Collaborative projects can: provide opportunities for gathering and analyzing data, teach students to work collaboratively to solve problems, expand student knowledge of geography, increase understanding and appreciation of different cultures and global issues and promote interdisciplinary study across the curriculum.

As part of the 2004 Annual Lesson Plan Contest, the Southern Regional ETTC invites teachers to submit ideas for collaborative projects that will be developed with the assistance of the ETTC during the summer of 2004. Three proposals will be selected from those submitted to the contest to be developed with the guidance and support of the ETTC. The ETTC will host the projects on its website, advertise for participants and facilitate the project's activities during the 2004-2005 school year.

Come up with an idea and the ETTC will help you develop and manage it next year. Submit your proposal on the Lesson Plan Contest Application Form by April 21, 2004.
