Working with Images

Publisher allows you to create shapes and graphic elements or import images into your document.
  • Draw Shapes - Select the desired shape tool Drawing Shapes menu from the menu bar. Draw a line, arrow, oval, rectangle or customize your shape. Move your pointer to your document. Click and drag until the shape is the size you want.
  • Add Borders or Fill - Borders can be applied to any text frame, shape or image. Select item to add border to and choose the Line/Border Style Line/Border Style button button. Choose your style from the drop down menu. Then you can decide to change the border color or fill the object with color Change Fill or Line color buttons.

    To remove a border or fill, click the Line/Border Style button or Fill button and select none.
  • Import a Picture from the Clip Art Gallery - Insert an image from the Clip Art Gallery by selecting the Clip Art Clip Art button from Picture in the Insert Menu. Once the Clip Art menu appears, you can search for the image by keyword, look in the collections area, or search online for additional graphics.

    To insert the image, select the image and click arrow on the left hand side of the graphic. Then choose copyCopy button . Close the window and pastePaste button the graphic in the publication.
  • Import a Picture from your File - Insert an image from your file. Choose From File Picture From File buttonunder Picture in the Insert Menu. Locate the picture from the file its saved in. Select the desired graphic.
  • Scale a Picture - Select the picture frame and choose Format Properties Format Properties buttonbutton. Go to the size tab and change the numbers for the scale height and scale weight. Click OK.
  • Crop a Picture - Select the picture frame and choose the Crop Picture Crop Buttonbutton. Move the pointer over the selection handle of the picture. Click and drag the selection handle until the image is how you would like it to be cropped. Then Click again to allow the crop to occur.
  • Recolor a Picture - Select the picture and choose Format Properties Format Properties buttonbutton. Go to the Picture tab and select Recolor. The Recolor Picture box will

    appear. Choose the color and effects you would like an select Apply to Preview your selections. Then Click OK.
