All text must be in a box or text frame.
Text boxes can be placed anywhere in your document. You can use as
many text frames as necessary on a single page. Text frames allow
you to control the positioning and flow of text in your document.
You even have the ability to link text frames so text can flow from
text frame to text frame, and possibly page to page. |
- Add a text frame - Select the Text Frame tool
on
the Objects toolbar and move the pointer onto your publicaction.
Position the pointer where you would like the text to be placed.
Click and drag diagonally to the desired size.
|
- Enter text - Select the text frame and be sure the insertion
point in the text box is blinking. Begin typing. Experiment with
font types, sizes, colors, alignment, and styles.

If there is too much text to fit in the selected text frame, an
Autoflow alert box appears.
To remove this alert box, you can expand the size of the text
frame or if you don't to change the positioning, link this text
to another text frame. See linking text frames below.
|
- Using AutoFit Text - There are two AutoFit text options
that will automatically change the formatting of insert text to
fit the text frame. Choose AutoFit Text from the Format
menu and select either:
- Best Fit - either enlarges or reduces text size to
fill text frame
- Shrink Text on Overflow - reduces text size so that
it will fit entirely in the text frame.
- None
|
- Columns - To add columns to your text frame, select the
text frame and click in the text box. Then select the Columns
tool
button
and highlight the number of columns desired.
|
- Text Wrapping - Text wrapping forces text to flow around
objects that are placed on top ofa text frame. Slect the text
frame whose text you want to wrap around an object. Then select
the Text Frame properties
tool,
go to layout tab, and then select your wrapping style.
|
- Linking Text Frames - Linked frames can be located on
the same page or on other pages in your document. Linking can
be done manually or automatically.
- Manual Linking - Select the text frame that you wish
to link to another frame. Click the Connect Text Frames
button
and move pointer to the empty text frame. Your pointer will
change into a pitcher. Click the empty text frame and pitcher
will fill the space with the text. A Go to Previous
button
will appear at the top of the frame and a Go to Next
button
will appear at the bottom of the original text box. You can
move between linked frames by using these buttons.
- Using Autoflow to link text frames - Select a text
frame. Insert a text file or paste text. If the text is too
large for the frame, an AutoFlow alert box will appear, asking
if you like to use AutoFlow. Click yes. The text will be placed
in an empty frame in the document.
