1. Fourth grade teachers are asked to register the class team for the challenge. Only online entries will be accepted. Registrations must be received two weeks before the start of the contest.

As of December 20, 2004, classroom registrations are no longer being accepted. Thank you for your interest.

**You may want to ask your class to pick a team name for the challenge to make it more fun.

2. After registering, teachers will receive a confirmation letter of participation in the Math Challenge. Teachers will also receive a login and password for online submission purposes.

3. Each week for the contest’s duration a new Math Challenge will be posted at this site. Each question will focus on a macro from a different cluster of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for mathematics.

o Week 1: Number Sense, Operations and Properties
o Week 2: Geometry and Measurement

o Week 3: Data Analysis, Probability and/or Discrete math
o Week 4: Patterns and Algebra

4. Your class should work collaboratively to solve the question and submit a single entry, electronically, by Friday afternoon of that week. Additional instructions will be provided with each math challenge question - be sure to follow each step. Classwork can be sent as an attachment. Attachments can ONLY be sent via the online form. Questions or concerns can be emailed to ettc@stockton.edu. No FAXed entries will be accepted. Your class solution will be assessed by the ETTC staff and master teachers.

5. Math Challenge questions will be posted on the Friday of each week and entries must be submitted by the following Friday afternoon at 3 PM. Please visit this site for the posted questions. You may want to prepare by looking over the previous year's contest questions.

6. As team answers are scored, classes can view team scores here.

7. The solution to each question will be posted here on the following Monday so the class can check their work. Remember to click on the math challenge to view the problem and solution. Again, solutions will NOT be posted until the Monday after the submission deadline.

8. At the end of the Math Challenge contest (4 weeks), the classroom with the highest score will receive a classroom party (pizza and ice cream) and web congratulations on the Southern Regional ETTC's web page.
