This web site is a work
in progress. The information appearing here is being researched
and written by students taking the course “Art of New Jersey,”
taught by Professor Kate Nearpass Ogden, at The Richard Stockton
College of New Jersey. Our first web entries were researched and
written in the fall of 2003, but the students’ work is ongoing.
All entries are being edited and – to the extent possible – checked for accuracy.
Most
of the artists indexed here lived or at least worked in the Garden
State, and whenever possible we have used New Jersey subjects as
illustrations. The site will eventually include paintings, sculpture,
architecture, prints and drawings, photography, film, and “new
forms” of
art. The last category is intended to include a variety of 20th
and 21st century art forms, from happenings and performance art
to computer-generated imagery.
