Music Counts

Your DJ Music Business has six rap, ten rock, six alternative, eight "oldies," and five country CD singles.

1. How many different ten-song sets can the DJ play at a party if she plays exactly two singles from each category?

2. How many different ten-song sets can the DJ play at a part if she plays exactly three rap singles and four rock singles in each set?

Your assignment:
1. Your assignment this week is to investigate the problem, using as many different math methods as you can to explain your answer. Then explain clearly in a paragraph form how you figured out your answers. Explain each method clearly. You get extra points for each different solution method.

This was a tough problem.... classes were given credit for process as well as answers on this one.

Part 1: There were 15 different rap possibilities, 45 rock possibilities, 15 alternative possibilities, 28 oldies possibilities and 10 country possibilities.... when you consider all of these with all other.. you get
15 x 45 x 15 x 28 x 10 which equals 2,835,000.

Part 2: There are 20 different possibilities for Rap and 210 possibilities for Rock.... and since you have 19 more songs to choose from that gives you 969 possibilities. 20 x 210 x 969 = 4,069,800

.... good job ladies and gentlemen... some of you got one answer and really close to the second!!!
