A Middle Township firefighter battles a blaze Saturday morning on a
trolley that caught fire; it sent flames into the air but caused no
injuries, police said. Thomas Snyder, of the Villas section of Lower
Township, was driving the trolley north on Route 47 in the Dias Creek
section of the township when he noticed smoke in the unoccupied passenger
compartment. Snyder pulled the trolley into the parking lot of a
convenience store, then saw flames in the rear of the trolley, near the
fuel tank. The Cape May Court House Fire Department put out the fire.
The
cause is under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal.
